Misty and her foals Stormy, Sea Star, and Phantom Wings are stars of the very popular childhood books by Marguerite Henry. All of the action took place in and around Chincoteague, Virginia, therefore children who grew up in the area and/or who were mad about horses and, of course, the annual Chincoteague Pony Swim, are very familiar with these equine celebrities. These books personally inspired a love of reading for myself and I would be thrilled if they could do the same for another child.
This lovely set was gently played with by a child who very much loved them. They're in very good condition with no obvious scratches or rubs. This set was never sold together in boxes. I don't have a box so I don't have precise dates of manufacture or release, however this Misty model was manufactured 1973-1984. She was sold in a set with Sea Star and Stormy 1983-1985. And this model of Phantom Wings was sold 1982-1987.
As with all of my listings, this item has always been stored in a smoke-free, climate-controlled environment.
