    Description

Handmade Navajo medicine chart by Christine Lewis
Large size includes the English/Navajo names and uses of 14 plants + a small medicine bag. Plants in the chart include:
    - wild walnut leaves
    - brigham tea
    - juniper mistletoe
    - sumac berries
    - alder bark
    - sagebrush
    - cliffrose
    - snake weed
    - pinon pitch
    - canaigre dock root
    - rose hips
    - oak bark
    - bee plant
    - western yarrow
Signed on the back in the upper left corner by Christine Lewis. It says that this is a "Navajo Dye Chart" but it's clearly mislabeled, and this is a medicine chart. The back also has notes from several people that show it was passed from family members to friends several times. See pictures.
Excellent condition with most of the plants fully intact. The pinon pinch in the bottom right corner has some breakage. Frame is in very good condition with only a couple minor dings.
Total piece measures 21.5" long x 17.5" tall. Weighs nearly 3.25 pounds.
